Dropped Objects pose the number one risk of serious injuries, fatalities, and equipment damage in industries across the globe. DROPS is the global initiative focused on preventing Dropped Objects by providing supporting engagement and learning materials as well as setting recognized best practices. The goal of the drops Recommended Practice is to consolidate and promote the minimum criteria of a dropped object prevention management system as agreed by the consensus of DROPS.
Rig Shield has developed and successfully implemented ‘DROPS’ prevention schemes on many land and offshore drilling units. For Derricks/Masts and has streamlined the management and implementation of a dropped objects policy and procedure.
‘DROPS’ is an industry-wide initiative focused on preventing dropped objects, with the ultimate goal of delivering a second nature dropped objects prevention strategy across our industry. ‘Drops’ is represented by a large number of operators, contractors and service companies along with several leading industry bodies.
Rig Shield, utilizing the ‘DROPS’ scheme can implement and ensure a streamlined management of a previous or new dropped objects policy and procedure. Rig Shield ensures all policies meet;
Rig condition & acceptance surveys are defined as comprehensive assessments by way of a detailed evaluation of equipment and systems. This inspection will cover an in-depth survey of the state of maintenance of the rig. It includes an inspection of all safety critical elements of the installation and all equipment that could be anticipated to cause operational downtime when a mechanical failure of that equipment occurs.
The inspection includes, but is not limited to, the opening of critical equipment for verification that the equipment has been kept in a safe and reliable working condition and includes all major items of equipment to ensure a detailed examination of gear teeth, bearings, chains and ancillary parts for excessive wear, damage, cracks and other defects and for the measurements of clearances.
In addition function testing, pressure testing, load testing and insulation resistance checks for all critical equipment on board the drilling unit, as applicable, will be conducted accompanied by a check that the proper safety devices are installed and are working correctly to prevent accidents and equipment failures.
The analysis of equipment condition and standards of maintenance is always in accordance with API standards and includes the equipment manufacturer’s specifications and recommendations.
Our highly experienced team, who worked closely with equipment owners and OEM for years are capable of executing major overhauls for all types of the Rig Floor Equipment including and not limited to:
Rig Shield understands that with limited time and resources it can be difficult to determine the most critical use of such in order to have the greatest impact. Any knowledge, skills and/or competence deemed to be lacking can be addressed by Rig Shield. Rig Shield works directly with you to identify key competencies required to safely and reliably perform specific job roles. Whether this be decision making skills, communication, awareness and behavioral understanding Rig Shield can help your company meet any needs identified during the analysis process.
1) Analyze some of Rig shield several important standards for rig inspection like rig shield’s standard of procedures SOP, Rig inspection manual and the international standards.
2) Judge well control equipment and well control equipment standards.
3) determine the condition of equipment visually (External & Internal) as per latest edition of standards.
4) Determine the main inspection criteria for major equipment.
5) derive maintenance system for entire equipment to assure safe operating condition for the equipment.
6) judge major items that have an impact on the safety and operation of a rig.
7) Trainees will need to defend their recommendation of preventive maintenance system for the rig equipment.
8) Build the indicators of the overall condition of a drilling rig (Building Condition Lever).
9) Analyze the relevant standards (such as API) and their implications for drilling equipment.
10) Evaluate the condition of Explosion proof equipment (EX) installed in hazardous areas.
11) Analyze the inspection procedures on the rig to assure good practice.
12) Evaluate maintenance procedures of rig equipment concurrently with equipment manufacturer to assure safe operating condition of the equipment.
13) Build a set of recommendations to increase the equipment performance to derive the operations in safe manner.
14) Determine the impacts and risks on critical equipment
15) Analyze links between safety and inspection practices.
